Chris Ophoven is a filmmaker with over 20 years of editorial experience working with a wide variety of clients including Microsoft, Amazon, T-Mobile, Disney, Nordstrom, Uber, UW Medicine, Bartell Drugs, WA State Lottery, Brooks Running, and Universal Audio.
Filmmaking and the motion picture medium are collaborative forms. The process of creating, sharing, communicating, compromising, reviewing, refining, and then exposing a product to an audience. As an editor, by the time the motion pictures arrive to me, they have manifested and shape-shifted many times over. First, they started as ideas. Impulses of thought that were then put into words and then conversations, ultimately finding their way to the written page. These words, then generate creative energy, that manifest into productive actions; crews assembled, actors cast, sets designed, locations secured. Ultimately, this collective energy takes on a whole new form, illusions of light and waves of sound, captured by craft persons of camera and audio. A portrayal of reality, auditioned and captured. These collective efforts and creative energies are then brought to people like me, the editor, where I have the wonderful opportunity of interpreting and measuring performance and production into an assembly of time, space and meter. All of our collaborative efforts manifesting into a story.
Whether we are trying to sell, brand, impress, politicize, socialize, or strategize; story is imperative. I’m excited to use my skills and experiences I’ve acquired over the past 20 years, to help the new voices be heard. The processes and mechanisms of what we do and how we do it, are not all that different depending on the creative intent and purpose. What does differ, are the people we get to work with at every facet of the process. I look forward to hearing about your creative adventures and I look forward to learning how I can help bring your stories to their greatest potential and the widest of audiences. Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your project.
